Privacy Notice

Our approach to privacy

Thumb Hiker measures controller thumbstick movement and turns it into a virtual distance.

The app is not designed to monitor people, track them across other apps or websites, or discover their real-world identity. We do not use personal information for advertising or profiling.

Information kept on your computer

Thumb Hiker stores information needed to operate the app, including:

• Thumbstick distance totals;
• Sessions, achievements and landmark progress;
• Controller calibration and app settings; and
• Optional private per-game history.

This information is stored locally on your computer. Sandbox Vibes does not receive it unless you choose to enable an online feature that requires it.

Thumb Hiker does not record gameplay, screenshots, conversations, passwords, keyboard input or controller button presses.

Optional Global Hike

Joining the Global Hike is optional. Thumb Hiker works without it.

If you join, the app sends:

• Your numerical Steam account ID;
• Steam authentication and ownership confirmation;
• Your total contributed distance; and
• The time of your contribution.

The Steam ID allows the service to distinguish one Steam account from another and prevent duplicate or false contributions. We do not ask for your real name, email address or postal address, and we do not use the Steam ID to build a profile about you.

Only combined community totals are displayed publicly. Individual account IDs and distances are not displayed.

If you do not enable the Global Hike, we do not receive your distance data.

Steam and service delivery

Valve processes information when you use Steam features or Steam Cloud under Valve's Privacy Policy.

Our online service uses Cloudflare. Cloudflare may temporarily process an IP address and basic request information to deliver and secure the service. We do not use this information to track users or for advertising. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell personal information.

Your choices and retention

You may disable the Global Hike at any time. This stops future distance contributions.

Local data remains on your computer until you delete it. Global Hike information is retained only while needed to operate the community total, prevent misuse or meet legal obligations. You may contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information linked to your Steam account.
